Newborns + Babies

Those first few weeks and months after your have your beautiful baby are so special and also go so fast, its so true what they say about the days being long but the years so short! It honestly feels like yesterday that my son was a newborn. It feels like I have blinked and he has started school already. That gorgeous newborn time is so magic, I just love capturing natural and relaxed photographs of this special time.

I don't believe that there is a specific time that's 'best' for photographing babies. If you want your baby to be much more sleepy and tiny then about 10 days is a great time. If you would like to capture their beautiful eyes and for them to be more awake and alert then a little older at say 6-8 weeks is lovely too. But honestly every age has something incredible about it and there really is no right age, I adore capturing babies at 6 months when you get the gorgeous smiles and giggles, and a year is so special to, each age has something amazing about it.

The most important thing for these sessions is that you all feel relaxed. So its important for you to choose a time and place that is right for you. Some families choose their home as the location for their session, as it can make everything feel more relaxed to be in the comfort of your own home and we can start at a reasonable hour, I normally do newborn sessions at around 10am. Other families want to use a beach or outdoor location, as this is right for them and their story and this is just beautiful too (but we just need to be a little more mindful of the conditions and temperature when photographing newborns, so that they stay comfortable and happy).
